    Last night...
was easily one of the most fun nights I've had in years. MOTU played an hour-long set for a free show at the Dormont Rec Center right after the KO football home game and there were most likely about 200 people there... all dancing, singing, screaming, clapping, slow dancing, cheering, and CROWD SURFING. Words can't describe how into it everyone was. I can only hope we can get the same kind of energy in future engagements.

    And speaking of future engagements...

Today, MOTU had a meeting at Mr. Small's for the Emergenza Festival. To make this short, this is essentially a HUGE battle of the bands that gives us opportunities to tour (Detroit, Chicago, and maybe even GERMANY), recieve possible record deals, free recording, free equipment, etc. The way things have been going, I feel pretty confident that we can at least gain a fair amount of exposure from this.

I also am setting a goal to be on a fairly large tour right of high school. Maybe a longshot, but that's why it's a goal.

Hello. I hope all is well.

MOTU will be on 92.1 WPTS FM tomorrow (Friday) at 4 PM for an interview and sneak peak of our new cd. I reccommend you listen. We're also playing a FREE show tomorrow night at the Dormont Rec Center at around 10.

I picked up Jaco Pastorius' self-titled reissue album today. Amazing.

So I've realized that lately I've been taking a lot less of people's shit than I have in the past. I've even threatened people who are generally just assholes... and meant it. That is a big step for me. I also have no problem ignoring people I don't care for. I'm going to say this is a good thing.

I'm looking into colleges in the area. Anyone have any recommendations or negatives about any that might help me out?

I rarely have interesting updates. This one is no different.

-I bought an awesome vintage tux jacket. It's black velvet with a black satin trim. I'll be wearing this at every MOTU show from now on.

-I finally got an mp3 player. You have no idea how badly I've wanted one for the longest time. Similar to how girls are with their clothes, picking a CD to listen to in the morning before school used to take me like 5 minutes just to pick the right one. Music sets the tone for my day.

-Unarmed had a radio interview at Pitt last Friday. It was hilarious. I'd like to put that up on the interweb somehow.

-MOTU is playing a FREE show at the Dormont Rec Center (that building at Dormont Pool) after the KO home football game on September 23rd. We are they only band playing. All are welcome!

    -Gogol Bordello is awesome.

-MOTU are in desperate need of a trombone player. If you know anyone who plays trombone and isn't annoying, let me know.

Yeah, so I went to the Warped Tour. It was okay even though 95% of the bands there were total garbage. I can't complain too much because I pretty much made money by going. I was able to get in as a +1 with Jeffy 2.0 via A-F Records, which scored me a special yellow bracelet that meant I could go on stage and stuff (but I didn't), AND a free ticket from my friend Travis who is on the tour with Jupiter Sunrise. I obviously didn't need two tickets and screamed "WARPED TICKET, TWENTY BUCKS!" Then some random chick said, "Twenty bucks? I'll take it." With that money I was able to buy food, half of a sno-cone with KT, and Alkaline Trio's Crimson. So, I practically spent no money, saw a few bands that I like (Dillinger Escape Plan and Big D were by far the best bands there), hang out with some friends, and get a wicked tan.

Despite being completely exhausted, I had to bounce from the Warped Tour (right before Millencolin! LAME) to play an after party with Unarmed at the Shadow Lounge. We played one of our best sets to date even though Emil and I had been baking and dehydrating all day.

There are pictures from the Warped Tour and Unarmed at the after party in the one and only kirbypuckett's livejournal. So check those out.

Finally, the Masters of the Universe are trying out a possible new drummer on Saturday. For those who don't know, Chris, our drummer now, will be singing lead vocals for us as soon as we get a confirmed drummer.

The Strike Anywhere show was amazing. There's a nice review of it at http://www.punknews.org/reviews.php?op=albumreview&id=4189

So the Masters have had 3 full days of recording and all that's left to do is alto sax on Sunday. Believe me when I say it's the best recording I've ever been on and you will all be in awe at how fucking sweet we are. We'll be getting the works for this one, meaning cd art, cover art with liner notes inside, and jewel cases. We mean business.

Sup. This is gonna be short and to the point.

    Chicago was sweet.

UNARMED is playing with STRIKE ANYWHERE, THE CODE, AND FROM ASHES RISE July 20th. Go or I'll eat all of your pets.

UNARMED is also a featured artist at www.stayvocal.com in the audio section, along with such bands as STRIKE ANYWHERE, DARKEST HOUR, ANTI-FLAG, THE CODE, MIKE PARK, and THE NIGHTWATCHMAN. This is pretty big for us. Check out that site.

MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE are recording the 18th, 19th, and 21st. Chris will be singing and playing drums and we'll be having tryouts for a new drummer. If you or somebody you know is interested let me know.

I could tell you about other stuff, but I don't care that much.

    Later.

I don't really have much to talk about. Summer has been going pretty well for me. I get to sleep in and practice often. I'm gonna write some random things that I want to do, have done, and will do.

-I really want to go mini-golfing.

-I can eat pizza any time ever. If you ever want to eat pizza with me, let me know.

-I bought Hot Water Music's "Caution" for 5 bucks at the Exchange after losing mine probably 6 months ago. Yesss.

-Listening to the Mars Volta in a basement with a group of people is amazing. I'd enjoy doing that again.

-A Wilhelm Scream's new album is soooooo awesome. I spoiled it for myself by getting it 2 months before it's out.

    and finally...

-I'm going to Chicago from this Thursday and I will get back on Sunday night. That means I have two days of hanging out before that so someone do something fun with me! It'd be nice if Annemarie could give me back my headphones before that also!

    So yeah, that's it. Later.

Despite my excitement, I've been somewhat down, and I guess confused, for the past couple days. My situation with Haley is awkward and I don't like it, but I don't really know how to make matters better. It sucks things had to be this way.

UNARMED HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE STRIKE ANYWHERE SHOW ON JULY 20TH AT MR. SMALL'S WITH FROM ASHES RISE AND THE CODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Anyways, the Masters had a fun set at the Prana Gallery tonight with A Perfect Orange, Skunk 11,Tommy and the Faggots, and Dollface Divine. The Perfect Orange dudes seemed really nice and complimented my bass playing, which is always nice.

So I've been thinking about how lucky I've been to be able to share a stage with some of my favorite bands. There's LEFTOVER CRACK, THE CODE, THE SLACKERS, MUCH THE SAME, LOWER CLASS BRATS, and............ STRIKE ANYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really hope I can make some kind of career out of music. I don't know what else I'd be doing.

This weekend has been nothing short of ridiculous and fun.

So Friday night was KO's Prom. Some people were hanging out afterwards at Nicole's house, so TJ, Pete, and I headed over there for a night of good times.

On Saturday, MOTU played with the Slackers and the Have Nots. Both bands were amazing. We plan on booking more shows with the Have Nots and I recommend that you attend those shows.

Sunday. It seemed like I wouldn't have anything to do Sunday, until Bret called and said that he and Rob would pick me up and take me to Grant's. So we get there and ridiculousness broke out. We planned on going to some party at the Holiday Inn and got sidetracked several times for over an hour. We finally get there and we're "greeted" by some Greeks who definitely didn't want us there. We were the only Greek people there and headed straight for the door after about 30 minutes of mass confusion.

So yesterday, TJ, Kirby, Bret, and I went to see A Wilhelm Scream, The Lawrence Arms, and The Methadones in Cleveland. A Wilhelm Scream stole the show in my opinion. It seemed like the Larry Arms could barely sing anymore from touring. They were still awesome nonetheless.

After the show, we decided not to go to IHOP because we knew it would be a long drive home, and it definitely was. Everything that could have went wrong did. The highway was extremely foggy and TJ missed the Pittsburgh exit because he couldn't see the sign. So we ended up somewhere in Beaver completely lost and blind. We eventually got back on the highway and TJ almost hit a black cat that happened to be in the middle of the road as soon as I was about to fall asleep. So I opted to stay awake. We finally make it back to Greentree and on our way to take Bret home, we were thinking about how the only thing that could make it worse would be getting hit by a drunk driver. Well, that probably almost happened. TJ was driving and the road looked like it went straight but it really curved to the right, but there was a driveway ahead. We go straight and almost get crushed by this massive fucking truck. I would have been dead for sure. I finally got home around 3:45 and fell asleep until about 1 today. Fuck school.

So that's a very vague description of my weekend. One of the best I've had in months. I'm really looking forward to summer.

    I am officially single.

After 8 months, Haley and I decided it was best to carry on our relationship as friends. We rarely had time to see eachother outside of school, plus she'll be at Governer's School for the almost half of this summer, so it's probably for the best.

This Saturday, you better be at the Brew House on the South Side seeing the MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE with THE SLACKERS.

I'M SEEING THE LAWRENCE ARMS AND A WILHELM SCREAM ON MONDAY IN CLEVELAND!!!! YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!

Life is bittersweet, but I'm going to try not to get stressed out over it anymore. Summer.
